Part 4 takes place in Gilded Age America and the aspiring German Empire. It is the time of imperialism, of “world policemen” and world empires Tensions rise between the nations, but none wants to back down.

Since her childhood, Chiara had received many postcards from the Rhineland and posted them into an album.”The Rhine, Bonn and Cologne, the Drachenfels and the Seven Mountains. From here, our family has come to North America about 200 years ago”, she wrote underneath.

When Lorenz Bergmann, as grey-haired gentleman, travels back to his old homeland at the Rhine, he sees the completed cathedral in Cologne, and rides on the cog train to Mount Drachenfels. Things are looking up in the German Empire. Also his daughter Amber and his granddaughter Chiara would love to see the Rhine one day.But the world was getting colder, on both sides of the Atlantic.
